A Squonking Device Done Perfectly!
The Geekvape Gbox Squonk setup hit the market not terribly long ago and it left a massive dent in the squonking area. We will be going over today why this squonk setup is nearly perfection and why you should utilize one if you’re thinking about squonking!
The Geekvape Gbox Squonk kit is completely regulated which is a huge plus for the entire vape community. This is not a unregulated device which attracts so many more people to it and helps them ease their minds when it comes to building on it.
The device will read your coils on it accurately and efficiently and you will not have to worry about precious battery life or switching over to a specific mechanical battery to make it run.
This in term becomes very user friendly for those who are wanting to just slap a build on it and chase clouds/flavor making it a incredible choice for those wanting to get into the squonk game.
The Airflow Is Something New, But Very Nice!
The Geekvape Gbox Squonk kit comes with the Radar RDA. This RDA changed things up a bit though in a lot of different ways and we wanted to start with the airflow. This has 2 different types of airflow on it that you will have to tweak with until you find the perfect match for you.
When you look at the side of the RDA you will notice a small airflow opening and a larger airflow opening. The top cap has 2 different selectors on it as well so that way you can adjust your airflow which is a huge pro in our opinion.
The first option is to leave everything wide open with the top cap. This opens up that small port and the larger port so that way you get airflow on the middle of the coil and towards the top of the coil as well. This will give you a much cooler vape experience rather than a warm vape experience. Additionally when you strap a low resistance build on there this will keep all the contact points of the coil cool as well preventing spit back from your vape coils.
The other option is to close off the smaller airflow port and leave just the bigger one open. This eliminates the cooling on the top of the coil giving you a little warmer vape experience but still does an excellent job at keeping your coils cool enough to prevent spit back.
We tried both airflow setups and for lower builds we allowed both ports to be wide open, we would recommend having both ports open between .05 and .1 ohm coils. When you are running anything higher than .1 ohm resistance coils we closed off the top smaller portion of the airflow and only left the larger port wide open. The best part was, we had no spit back from juice from this RDA as well.
The airflow/machining of this RDA is incredibly smooth and nicely machined, it will take a small bit of adjustments to get it where you want it, but were sure you will absolutely adore this RDA just as we have.
The Build Deck Is Easy, Convenient, And Leak Proof!
This build deck is a straight 4 post style build deck. However Geekvape did something completely different here and angled each of the slots so you can clip your leads easily and effectively.
Additionally installing your coils is incredibly easy, the screws are nice, the slots are huge, and even better, you can slap some giant coils in this thing which in our opinion is better for squonking.
We installed a pair of dual 3.5 mm clapton coils in it and we were astounded with the results. We were able to dump a ton of cotton in our coils, it wicked easily, and performed incredibly well.
Another important addition of what they did with this RDA is they made it leak proof. You will see there is the classic double spaced o-rings installed at the base, however what stands out is that small lip at the bottom that the top cap locks to.
This ensures that when you push your squonk bottle, the only way this is going to leak out is through the air ports. You would really have to push that bottle multiple times for it to leak through the airflow ports as well because this thing has a 3.5-5mm roughly juice well.
It’s deep, the lip is a nice touch to prevent juice from getting on the mod, and it’s also a raised squonk pin.
Speaking of the squonk pin, it is raised up instead of completely flat which is a huge improvement over other squonk RDA’s in our opinion. It pushes juice out of it nicely and it actually has to travel a little bit of distance instead of instantly flooding the base.
This small added touch prevents flooding and ensures excellent wicking as well.
After you install cotton and press your squonk bottle, if you leave the cap off and look at the deck you will see why they included such a deep juice well. Not only does it wick your coils up well, but it also leaves the extra juice in the bottom of the deck so as you vape, it consistently continues to juice itself up as well in case you over do it with the bottle.
This blew us away when we gave it our first try and Geekvape definitely did something nice here.
Our final note on the squonk pin, don’t worry guys, if you just want to use the RDA on a mech mod or any other device, Geekvape heard your pleas and included a non hollowed out 510 pin so you can run it without squonk mode as well! Nice touch Geekvape!
Our final note as well, the RDA is 24 mm in size so no worries there guys and gals!
The Geekvape Gbox Squonk Mod!
It Looks Like A Familiar Mod!
Geekvape, we’re pretty sure you designed this around your infamous Aegis Legend. This thing looks kind of similar but it certainly feels like a larger, boxier version of the legend. When you hold this thing you can instantly tell it’s a Geekvape product which is a nice touch.
When you look at the device the screen setup looks just the Aegis Legend. The battery door at the bottom as well shares a similar trait as well, it’s a locking/slide style battery door which is another nice added touch.
The device is powered by 2 18650 batteries and opening the battery door with the slide lock mechanism gives you easy access on the fly. Upon opening the battery door you will see where your squonk bottle is as well.
The squonk bottle is is plastic instead of silicon but that isn’t what makes it stand out. You will notice when you pull the bottle out, the long metal tube that connect the bottle to the 510 has a plastic adapter on it that serves as the “cap” to the squonk bottle. This ensure 0 leaks happen and as the metal tube extends while you pull, this makes filling it super simple and leak free.
This was a nice added touch to the Geekvape Gbox Squonk kit which many other kits struggle with. Good riddance you pesky leaks.
So filling it up is very simple, open the battery door, pull the bottle out and you will see the metal mechanism slide out with the bottle. The bottle will then detach and be wide open making it incredibly easy to fill. Once you have filled the bottle, just slide it on the little white cap and you will hear it lock into place.
You have now filled up the bottle with out any leaks and most importantly without having a mess. We swear this squonk kit was literally designed with only leak proofing in mind.
Box Mod Features!
First off as stated above, yes this is a regulated box mod so building on it is very forgiving. The box mod has many different modes as well.
This box mod has wattage (up to 200 watts), T/C NI, T/C SS, T/C TI, TCR, VPC, and BYPASS.
The mod has a slew of options available at your fingertips and all it takes is 3 fast clicks of the fire button.
Additionally for those of you who decide to transport it, you will be very comforted to hear that the geekvape gbox squonk mod also has the locking feature as well. Simply press the + and – buttons together and it will lock your wattages/temps wherever you had them.
You will still be able to fire the device but this will just lock the wattage/temp that you have it set at so it doesn’t accidentally adjust on you in your pocket or hand.
Now one thing that should be noted, is yes this is an excellent setup and has definitely changed the squonking game, however if you watch RiP Trippers video (shown below), you will see that screen is very dim. We do agree that this is a con but it isn’t insanely dark, you can still see it clearly, but it would of been nice if they upped the brightness a little more.
The mod will also support any of the other squonk RDA’s but we do like the one that comes with it. It’s slick, it’s easy, and this is an excellent setup for anyone looking to get into squonking.
We would give this setup on a scale of 1-10, we would give this a 9, our only con is the screen brightness. This squonk setup is literally perfection in every other way shape and form.
The battery life is great, the bottle is near perfection, it’s leak proof, it’s heavy duty, and most importantly, it performs incredibly.
